General Grub: Where to eat before kickoff against Lakeridge

Welcome back to another season of Generals football everyone! As we did last year, we’re happy to bring you info on the surrounding area of wherever Grant plays each week. We’re in full swing as there are just three short days until we get to see exactly what this team is made of when they take on the Lakeridge Pacers.

Playing at Lincoln can be both a blessing and a burden. Ideally the city would put up lights and turn Grant Park into a stadium, but as of now if we want to play a night game it means traveling to the home of our west side rivals. The surrounding cultural scene of the downtown Portland provides plenty of places to grab a bite to eat or entertain the family before headed to the game for a 7:30 kickoff.

This week we’ve got two places we think are great before coming to check out the Generals for the first time this season.

Hot Lips Pizza:

Located just down Morrison from Lincoln’s stadium this is a favorite among the Portland Timbers faithful, and being located just across the street from Providence Park keeps this place busy. Since there’s no games being played at Providence this Friday, Hot Lips is the perfect place to grab a cheap dinner and is within walking distance of the game. Served either by the slice or “full-pie,” there are several options available.

Hours: 11:00 A.M. – 10:00 P.M.

Location: SW 18th & Morrison
Brunch Box:

Texas toast burgers is all the information you really need, but there’s plenty of options at this unique burger joint. Custom built burgers with toppings ranging from jalapeños to peanut butter and everything between make this place a popular after work scene. The max line makes this place easily accessible being less than 10 minutes from the stadium.

Hours: 8:00 A.M. – 10:00 P.M.

Location: 620 SW 9th Avenue

That’s it for this week’s edition of General Grub. Remember to download Periscope and follow @grant_fb for live coverage of the team. Following today’s practice we will be talking with senior Malique Griffin about this week’s game.

Go Generals!
